Fourth of July also known as Independence Day, is Americas national holiday, celebrating their independence from Great Britain.

Independence Day has been national celebrated since 4^th July 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was passed.

Common celebrations that occur on the Fourth of July have been; carnivals, parades, fairs, BBQ’s, fireworks, concerts and political speeches.

4th July fireworks is one of the biggest and most widely celebrated traditions of the day, with many towns and cities across the States hosting a public display. New York City is known to hold one of the biggest and best displays for the days celebrations.

This year will mark Macy’s 36 Annual fireworks show in New York to celebrate the 4^th July. This year a Macy’s spokesperson has said the firework display will last approximately 26 minutes, and will include more than 40,000 pyrotechnic shells.

The music that the firework display will be synchronised to has been chosen by the public via Facebook.

Chinese New Year may soon be over after today but London is keeping the celebration going a little bit longer, by holding their Chinese New Year event on 29^th January.
Celebrations will be held in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Chinatown.

-          Starting with a parade held in Rupert Street, Chinatown at 10.15 am, lasting approx 1hour 15mins

-          The opening ceremony will be held in Trafalgar Square where Mayor Boris Johnson and President of Chinatown, Stanley Tse will perform the Dotting of the Eye ceremony which will start at 12.00 noon

-          A display showcasing more than 100 performers will be held, including the Chen Brothers

-          Performances start straight after the opening ceremony and will continue till 5.40 pm

-          Finishing off with a spectacular firework display to follow traditional celebrations at 5.40 pm

It should be a fantastic event and one not to be missed.

Radio 1’s DJ Nihal will be putting on an exclusive show for all those who attend – starting at 10pm and continuing after the firework display.

Make sure you wrap up warm for the show as it will be cold. Meeting friends and family before venturing out to view points is advised as the crowds could mean that it is hard to meet up once there.

Tickets are not on sale for the show, it is a free event, so please do not accept any if they are offered to you.

2010’s Midnight Firework Display

The winter fireworks were set of in Manhattan Beach’s Holiday firework festival this year, filling South Bays skies.

The festival replaced the annual 4^th July fireworks several years ago.

The firework festival was held on 11^th December this year, with roughly 15,000 people gathering to witness the event.

Many activities for families were held from 4pm onwards in parks around the area, with sledge runs and snowmen.

The fireworks display started at 7pm with a specially extended finale thanks to Belkin sponsorship.

The festival also saw live music performances, a food and drink festival and lighting based art throughout Huddersfield.
To end the night there was a spectacular firework display by Pyro2000.

The Celebration of Light has just concluded its 21^st annual celebration in English Bay, Canada.

The event held in Vancouver attracts around 1.4million attendees every year, this year the events were carried out from 30^th July – 6^th August.

 Celebration of Light showcases spectacular firework displays. Spectators were invited to watch from the beach and concession stands were on hand to make visitors picnics.

Red Bull aerobatic pilot, Pete McLeod, performed for the crowds this year, showcasing his own talent with an extraordinary show, with over 300,000 people attending to watch.

 Celebration of Light this year brings the Battle of The Champions, China winners of 2008, Spain winners of 2010 and Canada winners of 2007, showcasing their best firework displays, battling it out to win the championship title.
