Huddersfield-based firework supplier, Standard and Black Cat Fireworks have been presented with a valued supplier award by the supermarket giant Tesco.

The award is an acknowledgement of outstanding achievement and Donna Davies, Buying Manager at Tesco, stated: “We are proud to present the award to Standard and Black Cat Fireworks for being an all round fantastic supplier – I can’t remember the last time a supplier in my division, was given this accolade”. Firework displays, firework parties and other celebrations took place around the world to welcome in 2011.

It was the small island nation of Kiribati that was the first to welcome in the New Year with fireworks filling the sky at 1000 GMT, followed by Australasia and Asia, and New Zealand was the first major country to welcome 2011.

Over 1.5 million people enjoyed an awe-inspiring firework display to welcome the New Year on Sydney’s iconic harbour this year. Every year the spectacular city put on a firework show that people literally travel half way around the world to see, and this year was no exception.
