GlobalFest 2013 Review
On Friday 16th August 2013, the Hunan Jixiu Fireworks Manufacturing & Display Co. Ltd of China opened the Trico Homes International Firework Festival as part of GlobalFest 2013. The theme of their show was â€śThe End of a Heroâ€ť and was based around the late years of Qi Dynasty (221-206 BC). It told a story of the heroâ€™s braveness and love. The fireworks showcased interchanged between being loud and powerful to represent the heroâ€™s braveness and then soft, elegant and beautiful in relation to the heroâ€™s love. The show included the compulsory piece of music â€śChanson Themeâ€ť from the stage adaptation of A Clockwork Orange by Danny Luntz. This music was compulsory for all designers from each of the four nations presenting a show at the festival. The Chinese firework display opened up with the compulsory music and then traditional Chinese music was heard. During the display there was a wide array of pyrotechnics on view including some beautiful gold horsetails and a stunning multi-coloured water carpet, which lit up the lake at Elliston Park. GlobalFest 2013 – Calgary, Canada
Trico Homes International Firework Festival
Held at Elliston Park in South East Calgary, Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival is one of four components of GlobalFest, an annual cultural celebration. The other components include the Human Rights Forum, Youth Forum and OneWorld Festival. The Human Rights Forum invites guest speakers to discuss issues such as racism and discrimination. The Youth Forum is an extension of the Human Rights Forum and includes youth directly. OneWorld festival features cultural pavilions involving a range of cultures from around the world such as Africa, Hispanic America, Middle East and the Caribbean. Honda Celebration of Light 2013
July 2013 sees the return of one of Vancouverâ€™s largest and most well known festivals. The Honda Celebration of Light returns with competitors new and old ready to set the skies alight with genius Pyromusical shows. An estimated annual attendance of 1.4 million people will see the UK, Canada and Thailand compete in a truly magical free event to the public supported generously by the City of Vancouver, the province of BC and generous event sponsors.
Attendees are encouraged to bring small speakers along with them to tune into Shore 104.3FM, who will be simulcasting the soundtrack of each competitor on each of the evenings. The public can also listen to the soundtracks online on their Smartphones and iPhones. All shows will start at 10pm and will last approximately 25 minutes.
This yearâ€™s competition sees the return of Pyro 2000, the official Black Cat Fireworks Display Team! Their show is up first on Saturday 27th July and they have all the experience to provide a truly amazing display and will not be fazed by opening the event. Read the rest of this entry »

Standard Fireworks Web Competition winner
You may have seen the recent homepage competition that Standard ran to win ÂŁ550 worth of Spectacular Fireworks. The closing date was today and we can proudly anounce that Robert Warner, a chef by trade has won the fantastic firework display of ÂŁ550 worth of fireworks!
When told he had won Robert commented:
â€śI am delighted to have won, we were quite worried about Bonfire night this year, what with the credit crunch and two children- but now we will be able to have a big family firework party and invite the whole family round!â€ť
Well done Robert, and thanks to everyone who entered the competition.
